Katonah® Yoga Therapeutic Adjustments  & An introduction to Taoist healing arts                                  25.05 & 26.05.2019  12.30-17.30Uhr

A Katonah® Yoga Program

with Ari Halbert

This workshop is focused on helping teachers and aspiring teachers feel more confident with hands-on adjustments.

Connecting with others by touch can be both an intimate and transformative experience, and as such should be met with care and confidence. Every teacher should feel fully in their comfort zone when connecting physically with others in a way that is receptive and directive. A skillful adjustment can truly transform someone's perspective, changing the way they look at themselves and reshaping the lens with which they see the world.

The acupressure portion of the workshop will include a brief overview of the Chinese meridian system, while spending the majority of the time focusing on hands-on, practical applications of the theory.

Therapeutic Adjustments

You will learn body reading techniques that will enable you to discern exactly what type of adjustment is best suited for a given student. There is no one-size-fits-all adjustment for any posture: Each body requires its own nuanced set of adjustments to find balance.

Through practice, you will become comfortable identifying different structural patterns, which will help you in discerning how to assist others in a way that will offer profound and lasting changes. Everyone will come away with hands-on experience, and gained confidence through applied knowledge.

We will cover:
* Working with injuries
* Body readings/diagnostics
* Breakdown of frequently used poses and techniques along with their adjustments/modifications
* Language: how to cue and articulate better with verbal adjustments

This workshop will be intimate and personal, allowing each participant to get the direct experience necessary to support them in empowering others.

Introduction to Taoist Healing Arts -

Qi Gong & Acupressure Massage

Qi Gong exercises cultivate and distribute Energy/Qi throughout the body and are a powerful tool that have been used for thousands of years to promote health and longevity.  The immediate effects are an invigorating burst of physical energy and extreme mental clarity, while the long term effects gradually boost the immune system and increase stamina and will power.

Participants will be taught a specific set of exercises, first learning each one step-by-step, then practicing them linked together in succession, using the group energy to create palpable swell of energy.

The acupressure portion of the workshop will include a brief overview of the Chinese meridian system, while spending the majority of the time focusing on hands-on, practical applications of the theory.  Students will work individually and with partners, learning to apply.
